Murray set a new school record with his nine-RBI performance in Sunday's 18-5 win over Davidson. His nine RBIs were the third-most in a single game by any college player in the country this season, and the most by a SoCon player since 2008.
A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Murray hit a grand slam, a three-run homer and a two-run double to lead the Cougars to their best offensive outing of the season in the 18-5 rout of Davidson. For the weekend, Murray finished with three home runs, 13 RBI and a 1.154 slugging percentage.
The national award is the first for the junior outfielder, and the first by any CofC player this season.
The Cougars will travel to South Carolina tomorrow to face the Gamecocks, who were recently picked #18 in the new Baseball America Top 25 poll.
