
Cougars Walk Off Aggies Friday

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – Graduate Will Tippett drew a five-pitch walk with the bases loaded in the ninth as College of Charleston baseball beat North Carolina A&T, 6-5, Friday evening at Patriots Point.
Sophomore Parker Sweeney picked up his second victory, striking out five Aggies in 2.2 scoreless frames where he allowed just three hits.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST NORTH CAROLINA A&T:
- The Aggies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first before doubling their advantage in the third.
- Charleston responded with a two-spot in the home half of the frame.
- Two batters into the bottom of the third, Tippett launched a solo shot.
- Graduate Reece Holbrook then singled through the right side before later scoring on freshman Nick Diaz's single.
- Holbrook continued his hot day at the plate, leveling the game at four the very next inning with a two-run double.
- The teams traded runs in the seventh as sophomore Alex LaCoste's sacrifice fly tied the game at five.
- Tippett then capped off the night with a bases loaded walk to win it opener.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston improves to 15-5 against N.C. A&T and 10-4 at home.
- Harrington has struck out at least six batters in three games and two starts this season.
- CofC's pitching staff has eclipsed double digit strikeouts in four of the last five games.
- The Cougars have five walk offs this season. The last two have ended in a 6-5 final.
- LaCoste and Holbrook both collected their seventh multi-hit performances of the campaign.
- Charleston's offense has drawn eight walks in back-to-back games.
- Sweeney has punched out 11 batters in his last two outings, which totals 5.2 innings.
