BOSTON, Mass. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team couldn't overcome two first half goals in their 2-1 loss to Northeastern Saturday night at Parsons Field.
The Cougars (6-6-2, 3-2-1 CAA) have already punched their ticket to the CAA tournament but will be playing for positioning in the CAA tournament their final two games.
Northeastern (3-9-2, 2-5 CAA), who outshot the Cougars 16-6 throughout the match, scored two early goals in the first 30 minutes of action. Christian McKenna put away the first goal in the 19th minute off of assists from Khesanio Hall and Frantzdy Pierrot while the second goal came off of the foot Hall when the Huskies were awarded a penalty kick in the 26th minute.
The College only managed three shots on goal but sophomore defender Leland Archer made one of them count in the 61st minute. Archer, who ranks second on the team in goals, scored his third goal of the season on an assist from Tyler Chiu but it wouldn't be enough for CofC.
Junior goalkeeper Kevin Shields, who ranks first in the CAA in saves per game with 4.55, made four saves in the loss tonight.
CofC will look to get back on track against UNCW on Wednesday, Oct. 28 and will finish out the regular-season at No. 14 Elon on Saturday, Oct. 31.
