BOSTON, Mass. – Facing highly-talented competition, sophomore high jumper Julisa Tindall impressed this past weekend, recording a second-place finish at the prestigious ECAC Indoor Championships.
Tindall, who was making her second appearance at the competition, set a huge personal best with a height of 1.84 meters – just barely missing out on the top spot to Coppin State's Deandra Daniel (1.87). Tindall has been sensational for the Cougars since arriving on campus, notching numerous event victories and top-five finishes. The Rock Hill, S.C. native will now turn her attention to outdoor competition with the hopes of improving on her seventh-place finish at the CAA Championships last season.
“What a fantastic day for Julisa,” said CofC head coach Amy Seago. “We all knew she had something like this in her and now I can't wait to see how she carries this momentum over to the outdoor season.”
Also competing in Boston for the Cougars was senior stand-out Tiffany Sisk, who managed a fourth-place finish, hitting a distance of 13.77 meters. Sisk – a two-time outdoor conference champion – was making her first appearance at the ECAC's after a stellar indoor career in the Southern Conference.
“Tiffany competed well,” said Seago. “I'm proud of her and it was good to see her scoring some more points for us.”
In the distance medley event, it was the fantastic foursome of Carlee Cassidy, Hayley McMahon, Lorna Doucette and Kornelia Kostka who took to the track, finishing with a time of 12:12.83 – good enough for 20th.
Collectively, the Cougars finished in a tie for 23rd out of 46 competing teams,
Next up for The College is this Friday's (March 13) UNCW Invitational, a one-day meet hosted by CAA rivals, the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
