WILMINGTON, N.C. – A relentless UNCW offense was too much for College of Charleston to handle in a 9-5 loss at Brooks Field on Saturday.
The 15th-ranked Seahawks (33-10, 13-2 CAA) pounded out 14 hits including five extra base hits. Brian Mims hit a home run and finished the game with four hits and a triple shy of the cycle. Daniel Stack went deep as well for UNCW.
The Cougars (23-21-1, 7-10) cut an early 2-0 deficit in half in the second when Danny Wondrack hit his third home run of the season. Erven Roper tied the game in the third with an RBI single. UNCW, however, scored four runs in the bottom of the third to re-claim the lead.
In the fourth, Alex Pastorius drove in a run on a sacrifice fly before Clay Hunt plated another on a ground out. The Cougars final run came in the eighth on an RBI single by Morgan Phillips.
