CofC Heads to the Evergreen State for Tough Weekend Slate

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team (2-1-1) makes the journey to the Pacific Northwest today for a weekend series with the Seattle Red Hawks (2-3) on Friday at 10 p.m. and the (RV) Washington Huskies (3-2) on Sunday at 4 p.m.
The Cougars come off their conference opener against (RV) Elon at Patriots point, where they played the Phoenix to a 1-1 draw. Joseph Terry picked up his second goal of the season to put the Cougars up in the closing minutes of the half, but Elon responded in the second to tie it up. In overtime, the Cougars took control of the tempo, but after a CofC goal was disallowed by way of an offsides call, the game reached 110 minutes without a winner. Kevin Shields made four saves on the night in goal.
Seattle was ranked 14th in the nation heading into the 2016 season, but have steadily fallen since then and currently find themselves on the outside looking in. A 1-0 loss to then-No.2 ranked Akron was forgivable, but subsequent losses to unranked Gonzaga and Dartmouth sent them out of the ranks of the Top 25. Alex Roldan leads the team with five points (2G, 1A) on only five shots, while RJ Noll has done all the work in frame for Seattle with a 1.40 GAA and .682 save percentage.
Washington on the other hand has been trending in the other direction, rising from unranked to start the season to now receiving votes in the latest NSCAA coaches poll. After a hiccup to start the year, the Huskies rattled off three straight wins over St. Mary's, Oral Roberts and Dartmouth before dropping their most recent game to Harvard. Mason Robertson has three goals on the season, including a two-goal effort against the Golden Eagles.
The Cougars will face off against Seattle at Championship Field Stadium before their Sunday showdown with Washington at Husky Soccer Stadium.
