Cougars Encounter Coastal Carolina This Wednesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the first time in over two weeks, the College of Charleston men's soccer team (2-4-1) returns home to Patriots Point for a non-conference showdown with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2-4-1) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The College will look to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Hofstra last Saturday when they host CCU. For the second game in a row, Kevin Shields put on a gutsy performance in net with nine saves, but the Pride attack proved too much for the CofC defense.
The Cougars and Chanticleers have met many times in their long histories, and the College will be seeking its first win over Coastal Carolina since picking up a 2-1 road win back in 2010. Andy Craven won the game for the Cougars in the 36th minute with an unassisted break-away goal.
The Chanticleers are in a similar position to the Cougars, as both teams are 2-4-1 in the midst of extremely challenging schedules. Three of CCU's four losses have come at the hands of Top 40 teams in the latest RPI report, and not only that, their last game was a 2-1 win over No. 20 Radford. In similar fashion, the Cougars have fallen to three Top 55 programs while picking up a tie against Elon, who was at the time receiving votes in the national poll.
