Men’s Soccer Visits UNF for Wednesday Night Matchup
10/3/2017 9:57:00 PM | Men's Soccer
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team (2-5-2) heads to Jacksonville for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, where they will face the UNF Ospreys (1-7-1) at 7 p.m.
The Cougars come off a scoreless tie against the Elon Phoenix on Saturday, with Kevin Shields being called upon to make seven saves to preserve the clean sheet. It was the Cougars' second tie in two games. They'll be looking for their first win since Sept. 1, an overtime win against Florida Atlantic that was coincidentally also played in the Sunshine State.
CofC and UNF have played one another two times since the Cougars joined NCAA Division I back in 1991, with the College owning the 2-0 edge in the series. Excluding a pair of exhibitions over the past two seasons, the last time the Cougars and Ospreys met was back in 2014 in a neutral site game in Greenville, S.C. The College won that game 4-0 thanks to a two-goal game from Nico Rittmeyer.
The Ospreys are winless since their regular season opener against Campbell back on August 25th. As of now, they ride a four-game losing skid, which was preceded by a 2-2 draw on the road against UConn. Adrian Nunez is the team's top offensive threat with four goals on the season.
Fans can tune into the game via the North Florida Ospreys Facebook page.
