CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Senior
Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) put down a match-high 14 kills and hit an even .500 to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of Towson in Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday evening in TD Arena.
College of Charleston (15-4, 4-1 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-21, 25-13, and 25-17, while posting 40 kills, 48 digs, nine blocks and a .243 hitting percentage. The Cougars held Towson (16-3, 2-3 CAA) to 28 kills, 5.5 blocks, 47 digs, and a .045 attacking clip. The win keeps the Cougars even with Hofstra in second-place, one game behind Northeastern (12-6, 5-0 CAA) in the CAA standings.
Mummey paced the offense with 14 kills and no errors on 28 swings for an even .500 hitting percentage, as
Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) accounted for a double-double with 31 assists and 11 digs to go along with three kills and two blocks.
Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) paced the Cougars at the net with a match-high seven blocks, while
Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) added eight kills, six digs, and two blocks.
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) and
Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) each tallied six kills;
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) posted a match-high 15 digs.
Silvia Grassini and Jocelyn Kuilan led the way for Towson with seven kills each, while Carola Biver chipped in 11 digs and six smashes. Marrisa Wonders and Peyton Moyles dished out 14 and eight assists, respectively, while Anna Holehouse recorded a team-high 14 digs.
The Cougars return to the court on Sunday when they host Delaware (3-12, 1-4 CAA) in CAA play. First serve is slated for 1:00 pm in TD Arena.
