Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) added eight kills and five blocks to pace the College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association play on Sunday afternoon in TD Arena.
College of Charleston (16-4, 5-1 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-7, while posting 40 kills, 40 digs, 12 blocks and a blistering .474 hitting percentage. The Cougars held Towson (3-13, 1-5 CAA) to 26 kills, 48 digs, and a .020 attacking clip.
Rachel paced the Cougars with 15 kills and no errors on 32 swings for a .469 hitting percentage, as Mummey added eight kills on nine attempts to go along with five blocks.
Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) posted seven kills and seven digs, while
Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) tallied four kills and a match-high six blocks. Junior setter
Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out 31 assists to go along with five digs, two kills, and two blocks;
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) led the defense with 10 digs.
Maria Bellinger led the way for Delaware with 10 kills and eight digs, as Bailey Pearlman added seven smashes. Abby Skryd dished out 20 assists while Kori Rasmussen tallied seven digs.
The Cougars return to the court on Friday when they travel to Elon, N.C. to take on Elon (13-8, 2-4 CAA) in CAA action. First serve is slated for 7:00 pm.
