NEWARK, Del. --- Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) put down a match-high 15 kills to pace three Cougars in double figures and freshman
Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) led the defense with a contest-best 14 digs, as the No. 24 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major) College of Charleston volleyball team swept Delaware on Sunday afternoon to secure the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship with its 12
th straight win.
With the victory and Northeastern's loss to Elon, College of Charleston (24-4, 13-1 CAA) clinches the CAA regular season title as well as the top overall seed in the conference tournament. The Cougars won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-7, and 25-22 while totaling 46 kills, 49 digs, and 10 blocks to go along with a .337 hitting percentage. Delaware (5-20, 3-12 CAA) finished the match with 26 kills, 38 digs, and a .059 attacking clip.
Rachel led the way with 15 kills, nine digs, three blocks, two service aces and a .375 hitting percentage, as
Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) tallied 13 kills and eight blocks to go along with a scorching .579 attacking clip.
Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) contributed an efficient 10 kills on 16 swings, and
Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out a match-high 41 assists. Manusky and
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) totaled 10 and eight digs, respectively.
Daria Robinson paced the Blue Hens with seven kills, while Maria Bellinger added 10 digs and six kills. Courtnie Roberts and Abby Skyrd dished out 13 and 11 assists, respectively.
The Cougars will return home to TD Arena on Friday when they host Elon (16-13, 5-9 CAA) in CAA action at 3:30 pm.
