Cougars Stumble on the Road Against Towson

TOWSON, MD. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (12-6) dropped the first encounter of its seven-match road swing on Saturday, falling 5-2 to CAA rival Towson (6-6).
The Tigers ran through doubles to claim the point with wins in the second and third flights. Liza Fieldsend and Rachel McNeely scored a win on court one, defeating A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschodt 7-5.
Mara Argyriou struck first in singles to tie the match at 1-1 when she defeated Lucy Williams 6-0, 6-1 to extend her singles winning streak to seven. However, Towson answered back with a win on court six to regain the lead.
Christi Woodson wrestled away another point for the College when she defeated Gomer 7-5, 6-4. However, the Cougars came up short on all three matches that stretched to third sets, with Fieldsend falling 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, McNeely dropping 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, and Anastasia Palaska succumbing 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
The Cougars now head for the City of Brotherly Love, where they will meet the Drexel Dragons (12-3) at the University of Pennsylvania's Hecht Tennis Center.
