Cougars and Pride Play to Scoreless Tie
9/23/2017 6:22:00 PM | Men's Soccer
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston poured on the shots in their CAA home-opener on Saturday at Patriots Point, but the Cougars and the Hofstra Pride were unable to crack one another and finished the game with a clean sheet.
• The Cougars finished the game with four shots on goal, and Eli Dent had the best opportunity in the opening half. The senior fired a shot square into Alex Ashton's chest, and the ball ricocheted off his gloves behind him and up into the crossbar.
• Kevin Shields earned his third shutout of the season, and though he only had to make one save on the day, it was one that made fans hold their breath. Danny Elliott fired a shot low from the corner of the box in the 82nd minute, and Shields dove the wrong way. However, he got his toe on the ball and was able to tip it just wide.
