CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team (2-4-1; 0-1-1) remains at home for a midweek matchup at Patriots Point on Saturday night, when it will host the Georgia State Panthers (5-3) for a 7 p.m. showdown.
Patriots Point will be hosting Two Dollar Tuesday for the match. Fans can purchase a $2 ticket in advance, which allows them to purchase two dollar concession items, including beer.
The Cougars faced off with reigning CAA regular season champion Hofstra on Saturday, gutting out a 0-0 draw with the Pride. Kevin Shields only had to make one save on the day as his stellar defensive line kept him well-protected for a full 110 minutes.
The College has squared off with the Panthers many times in the past, with the two previously sharing a conference as fellow members of the TAAC from 1991 through 1997. CofC owns the 14-3 edge in the school's Division I era, but GSU got the edge in last year's meeting in Atlanta, prevailing 1-0 in overtime.
The Panthers are 5-3 this year, and own an extremely impressive 2-1 overtime win over a Wake Forest team that was ranked No. 2 at the time. Georgia State rides a two-game winning streak heading into Sunday, with an overtime win over Winthrop and a shutout victory against Presbyterian. Rashid Alarape (6g) and Hannes Burmeister (3g, 2a) have been the team-leaders on offense, while Yannic Horn boasts a 0.71 GAA and three shutouts on the year.
