All-Around Effort Lifts Cougars Over Tigers, 3-2

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) each recorded a double-double, Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.) combined for 27 kills, and Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) collected a career-high 22 digs to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind win over Towson in Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday afternoon.
 
College of Charleston (16-9, 7-4 CAA) fought back from a 2-1 deficit to win the match by scores of 25-21, 19-25, 24-26, 25-15, and 15-12. The Cougars finished the match with 64 kills, 87 digs, seven blocks, and a .223 hitting percentage. Towson (11-14, 5-6 CAA) compiled 70 kills, 96 digs and nine blocks while combining for a .208 attacking clip.
 
Four Cougars reached double-digits in kills, led by Freed who recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 17 digs and a match-high 18 kills. Madison put down 16 kills to move into 11th on the program's all-time list with her 1,262nd career smash, and finished the match with a blistering .400 hitting percentage. Napierala and Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) each totaled 11 kills, as Rachel added nine digs to narrowly miss a double-double of her own. Beckman accounted for her sixth double-double of the campaign with 13 digs and a match-high 55 assists, as Manusky collected a season- and career-high 22 digs to lead the defense. McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) chipped in 13 key digs of her own.
 
Olivia Finckel led the way for Towson with 16 kills, while Emily Jarome (15 kills, 17 digs) and Peyton Moyles (26 assists, 15 digs) each recorded a double-double. Jocelyn Kuilan and Silvia Grassini finished with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, as Marrisa Wonders dished out 32 assists. Anna Holehouse collected 16 digs as Grassini added a match-high seven blocks.
 
The Cougars will take the court in TD Arena for the final time this season on Sunday when they host Delaware in CAA action. Head coach Jason Kepner and his staff will honor seniors Beckman, Madison, Rachel, and Rhodes with their annual Senior Day ceremony prior to the scheduled 1:00 pm first serve.
