Charleston Falls to Hofstra, 3-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Five players reached double-digits in digs, and Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) paced the No. 15 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) College of Charleston volleyball with 17 kills as the Cougars fell to Hofstra, 3-1, in a hotly contested Colonial Athletic Association match on Friday evening in TD Arena.
 
The setback snaps College of Charleston's (13-6, 4-1 CAA) five-match winning streak while dropping the Cougars into a tie with Hofstra (14-5, 4-1 CAA) for second in the conference standings. Hofstra won the match by scores of 23-25, 25-16, 29-27, and 25-17. The Cougars finished the match with 53 kills, 70 digs, nine blocks, and a .155 hitting percentage. Hofstra totaled 62 kills, 65 digs, and 10 blocks while hitting .268.
 
Madison paced the Cougars with 17 kills and a .364 attacking clip, while Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) accounted for her eighth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 13 digs. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) recorded a double-double of her own with 46 assists and 12 digs, as Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) posted her seventh double-double of the campaign with 13 kills and 11 digs. McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) and Logan Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) were credited with 15 and 12 digs, respectively.
 
Aisha Skinner led the way for Hofstra with 18 kills, while Laura Masciullo chipped in 12 kills, four digs, and three blocks. Ana Matrinovic accounted for a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs, as Michela Rucli posted a match-high eight blocks. Luisa Sydlik and Caylie Denham recorded match-highs of 53 assists and 23 digs, respectively.
 
The Cougars return to the court on Sunday when they host Northeastern in CAA action. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 pm in TD Arena.
