HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. --- Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) combined for 41 kills, but it was not enough as Hofstra rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the College of Charleston volleyball team, 3-2, in Colonial Athletic Association play on Thursday evening.
Hofstra (20-7, 10-3 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-18, 24-26, 15-25, 25-22, and 15-5 to complete the season sweep of College of Charleston (17-10, 8-5 CAA) for the first time since the Cougars joined the CAA in 2013. The Pride finished the match with 66 kills, 60 digs, 12 blocks, seven service aces, and a .267 hitting percentage while holding the Cougars to 56 kills, 65 digs, eight blocks, six aces, and a .191 attacking clip.
Rachel paced the Cougars with her 12
th double-double of the season, finishing with 20 kills, 18 digs, three blocks, and a .356 attacking clip, as Madison added a team high 21 kills.
Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out 46 assists to go along with seven digs and two blocks.
Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) and
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) chipped in 16 and 11 digs, respectively, while
Meghan Murphy (Orange, Calif.) collected a team-high five blocks.
Aisha Skinner led the way for Hofstra with 23 kills, nine digs, and four blocks. Laura Masciullo and Ana Martinovic added 18 and 10 kills, respectively, as Luisa Sydlik recorded a double-double with 54 assists and 16 digs. Maddie Appleton chipped in 14 digs, and Doris Bogoje and Michela Rucli each posted a match-high six blocks.
The Cougars will conclude the road trip on Saturday in Boston, Mass. with a 7:00 pm match against Northeastern.
