CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team returns to TD Arena for a two-game, pre-Christmas, homestand against Charleston Southern (Dec. 19) and Presbyterian (Dec. 21). In-city rivals CSU bring a 3-6 record to The College with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, live on the Charleston Sports Network.

SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
• The Buccaneers sit at 3-6 on the season, winning their last two against Erskine and Columbia (S.C.) last week, both at home.
• Prior to that Charleston Southern had dropped six straight including a loss to South Carolina State, who Charleston beat 75-51 on Nov. 10, and North Florida, who the Cougars played in a closed doors pre-season scrimmage.
• The Buccaneers were slated to finish 6th in the Big South Preseason Coaches Poll, with Weknyne Dumorne and Rachel Burns both picked on the Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
EFFORT, REWARDS
• After picking up the first road win of the 2018-19 season,
Deja Ford and
Tyler Collins earned nods from the CAA in the weekly awards.
• Collins earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors after tallying 9 assists, 11 points and 5 rebounds for the first weekly award of her Charleston career.
• Collins leads the CAA in assists per game (6.5) and ranks 8
th at the Division I level.
• Ford set a new career high for the second game straight, this time dropping 26 on 8-14 shooting, going 4-6 from deep.
• The junior earned Honorable Mention Player of the Week and is averaging 13.4 points per game this season.
NATIONALLY RANKED
• Through the opening eight games of the season, the Cougars lead the Colonial Atheltic Association in field-goal percentage (42.0%), free-throw percentage (75.9%), three-point percentage (39.2%) and rank third in scoring offense (69.44 PPG).

th at the NCAA Division I level.

Darien Huff is nearly automatic from the charity stripe with her 96.2% conversion rate ranking her 4
th nationally while her 47.5% rate from three-point range ranks her 24

th in the NCAA.
IMPROVEMENTS ARE KEY
• Through the opening eight games of the year,
Deja Ford and
Darien Huff have seen big improvements that have helped Charleston improve from 59.2 points per game in 2017 to 69.4 in 2018.
• Ford, a junior from Waldorf, Md., is seeing less than a minute more playing time this season but is averaging 13.4 points per game on 50.7% from the field, 52% from deep. She averaged 6.4 PPG on 29.8% and 17.6% at this point 12 months ago.
• Huff, a guard from Elizabethtown, Ky., is averaging a team leading 14.0 points per game this year compared to 10.1 a year ago. She's shooting 47.9% from the field, 47.5% from deep, compared to 36.5% and 35.7% last year.
