CORAL GABLES, FLA. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team (3-4) forced Miami (6-2) into multiple third sets and tiebreaks on Friday night, but the Hurricanes were too strong in the end, defeating the Cougars 7-0.
Alec Angradi and Youssef Dabbabi put up a strong fight in doubles play, but ultimately fell 6-4 on court two and allowed Miami to take the point. Juan Estevarena and Benedikt Henning were locked in a tight clash with Adria Soriano and Bojan Jankulovski on court one, but the decision of the point caused the match to be left unfinished knotted up at 4-4.
Miami won in decisive fashion on three courts to seal the win, but the Cougars played strong in their remaining three encounters. Benedikt Henning fell 6-2 in his opening set of flight two against Soriano, but went down battling, only falling as the result of a 7-6(4) tiebreak. On court five, Easton Thomas was the only Cougar to win his opening set, but ultimately fell to Nicolas Genovese 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Juan Estevarena rounded things out with a heroic effort on court one against Christian Langmo. After falling 6-3 in the first set, Estevarena battled back to force a tiebreak in the second set, winning it 7-2. With the match decided, the two moved on to a super tiebreak, which Langmo narrowly prevailed in by way of a 10-7 win.
