CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (3-1) resumes its lengthy season-opening road trip on Friday when they head up to Charlotte to square off with the 49ers (2-2).
The Cougars were originally slated to play two games this weekend, but impending poor weather on Saturday caused their match at Winthrop to be scrapped. The two teams will make that match up next month in Charleston on Mar. 9.
CofC won its last two matches on the rod, defeating Bethune-Cookman and Savannah State by convincing margins.
Anastasia Palaska and
Christi Woodson won each of their flight one doubles matches to earn CAA Double Team of the Week accolades, and the two each swept through their singles matches as well.
The Cougars are 10-3 against Charlotte since CofC joined NCAA Division I back in 1992. Last year, the College dispatched Charlotte by a score of 4-1 at Patriots Point.
The 49ers are 2-2 on the year, having lost their two most recent matches in Norfolk Va. to Appalachian State (5-2) and Conference USA rivals Old Dominion (4-0). Tai Martin has gone 2-2 in flight one action this year, while she and Immie Cowper have combined to go 2-1 in top flight doubles play.
