ELON, N.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team (7-12) came to an end on Friday in the CAA Quarterfinals, as the Cougars succumbed 4-0 to the No. 3 seeded UNCW Seahawks (17-4) at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
 
The Cougars and Seahawks fought over a hotly contested doubles point to start things off. UNCW picked up a win on court three, but Easton Thomas and Ksawery Pociej answered back when they defeated Michael Morphy and Andres Torres 7-5.
 
The point came down to court one, where Juan Estevarena and Benedikt Henning played to a tiebreak against Raphael Calzi and Ignasi de Rueda. Unfortunately, CofC didn't quite have the answer late, as the Seahawks won the tiebreak and the point by way of a 7-3 decision.
 
UNCW carried their momentum in doubles over to singles, where they pulled off three quick points on courts three, four and six to win the encounter and advance to the semifinals against Elon. For the Cougars, Youssef Dabbabi was entering a third set after winning his second prior to play being called. Estevarena led his match 6-3, 0-3 at the conclusion of play, while Henning was down 2-3 in his second set.
 
The men's tournament continues tomorrow at 10 a.m., when UNCW takes on the hosts Elon, and William & Mary faces off against Drexel.
