CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team continue their road travels with a Sunday evening trip to Annapolis, Md., to face Navy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Scouting Navy
The Midshipmen are 0-3 on the young season having recently lost to Air Force 2-0 in their home opener on Friday night. Prior to that, Navy had lost twice on the road to both Manhattan and NJIT.
Series History
Charleston lead the overall series 2-1 with the teams facing off in 1997 and 1998, then taking an 18-year gap before facing each other again in 2016.
Last Meeting with the Midshipmen
The teams met in 2016 with the Cougars scoring twice in the opening ten minutes to claim the 2-0 win. Cornell Holland, Temi Adesodun and Tucker Heffron all made appearances as sophomores.
Notables
• Jake Nicholson and Tucker Heffron scored their first goals of the season against Stetson
• Joao de Souza got his first assist of the year (on Nicholson's goal)
• Freshmen Peter Dearle and Liam Hudock earned their first collegiate starts at the Aaron Olitsky Memorial. Dearle starting both games with Hudock starting against Stetson
Last Time Out
The College fell to UMBC to open a four-game road stint. The Retrievers scored twice in the opening 25 minutes with a rain and lightning delay halting play for over two hours. The Cougars pressed without troubling UMBC before the Retrievers wrapped the game up via the penalty spot after a hand ball in the Charleston box.
