Rachel's Record Night Lifts Cougars to Sweep of Blue Hens

NEWARK, Del. --- Senior Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) set a new three-set single-match program record with a match-high 21 kills, and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) finished with 45 assists and four blocks to lead the No. 17 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday evening.
 
With the victory, College of Charleston (12-5, 3-0 CAA) extends its win streak to four matches after defeating Delaware (6-9, 0-3 CAA) by scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 31-29. The Cougars finished the match with 53 kills, 60 digs, five blocks, and a .355 hitting percentage, compared to 51 kills, 49 digs, one blocks, and a .285 attacking clip for the Blue Hens.
 
Rachel put down a match-high 21 kills – including 18 in the final two sets – to set a new three-set, single-match record (25-point, rally scoring era). The senior outside hitter also collected 15 digs to account for her sixth double-double of the season to go along with two aces and a .378 hitting percentage. Beckman dished out a contest-best 45 assists while adding four blocks and three digs.
 
Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) and Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.) contributed 11 and nine kills respectively, while each hitting well over .400 in the match. Napierala was also credited with a match-high five blocks, as McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) paced the defense with a contest-best 20 digs. Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) chipped in nine digs and six kills.
 
Maria Bellinger led the way for Delaware with 17 kills, as Cailey Bracken recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. Courtnie Roberts and Abby Skyrd dished out 25 and 13 assists, respectively, as Andie Hanus collected 20 digs.
 
The Cougars return to the court on Wednesday, October 3 when they travel to Wilmington, N.C. to take on the UNCW Seahawks at Cape Fear Academy (3900 South College Rd., Wilmington, N.C.). First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
