CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Basketball is set to make a short drive to face off against crosstown foe Charleston Southern on Friday, Dec. 20, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

CofC's late comeback attempt was cut short by UNCG as the Cougars fell by a score of 69-56 on Monday, Dec. 16. Sophomore Latrice Perkins led all Cougars in scoring with 14 points, while sophomore Tyler Collins was a close second with 11 points. After the Spartans went on a 16-2 run during the first quarter, Perkins sparked an 8-2 run to start the second to cut the UNCG lead to single digits. UNCG followed that up with a 12-2 run to end the half, leading 44-25. Senior Baileigh Larson provided a spark coming off the bench, logging a season-high eight points that guided the Cougars to a 13-2 run. The Spartans eventually ran away with the game, knocking down free throws to seal the deal at the end of the fourth.
 
Notables
  • Latrice Perkins has three double-doubles on the season while Arynn Eady has two.
  • Perkins and Collins became the first Cougars since 2015 to score at least 29 points in a single game.

The Buccaneers come into this game with an overall record of 2-6 but ride a two-game win streak. In their most recent matchups, CSU took down Columbia (S.C.) by a score of 76-59 on Dec. 16 and Virginia-Lynchburg by a score of 92-55 on Dec. 7.
 
Head Coach Fred Applin is in the midst of his eighth season at the helm of the program. Applin entered the season riding four consecutive seasons with 10+ wins and tied the program record for single season wins with 18 two seasons ago.
 
The team is led by Tierra Steede, who has scored 24 points in one game played, Sharita Godfrey, who is averaging 11.3 points per game and a team-high 6.6 rebounds, and Carmella Walker, who is putting up 10.5 points per game.
