
Cougars Sweep Past Aggies, 7-0, On Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team swept North Carolina A&T State on Friday afternoon 7-0, to open a weekend of action at Patriots Point for head coach Jay Bruner and his young squad.
In doubles action Ben Cawston and Robby Krick quickly dispatched the Aggies duo on court two, 6-0, clinching the doubles point with N.C. A&T State unable to field a team on court three. Over on court one Easton Thomas and Ksawery Pociej went the distance Jorge Goenaga and Vasil Ivanov, the Cougars eventually falling in a tiebreaker 6-7 (5).
Singles play followed with the Cougars sweeping on courts one through five, the Aggies unable to field a student-athlete on court six.
Benedikt Henning swept on court one, 6-1, 6-2 to move to 8-1 on court one through 2019, Johnny Wang quickly dispatching his opponent on court three, 6-1, 6-1. Pociej and Andre Limon also won in straight sets on courts four and five, Cawston going to a third on court two with Goenaga of the Aggies pushing the freshman from Tazmania, Australia, all the way.
Cawston came away with the tiebreaker win in the third to give Charleston a 7-0 win, the Cougars now looking to a 10 a.m. first serve tomorrow against UNC Asheville at Patriots Point.
