CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will look to carry the momentum from a weekend series win over rival UNCW into a midweek rematch with regional foe Georgia Southern on Tuesday evening in Statesboro, Ga. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on ESPN Plus.
 
Game Preview
The Cougars carry a two-game winning streak into Tuesday's matchup following a series-clinching walk-off victory over UNCW on Sunday. Georgia Southern took two of three from Appalachian State over the weekend to move to 12-10 overall on the season. The Eagles defeated the Cougars, 18-7, on Feb. 24 in the first of two matchups this spring.
 
Scouting Georgia Southern
The Eagles enter the week with a 12-10 record having lost four of their last six despite a series win against Appalachian State this past weekend. Georgia Southern comes into Tuesday's game ranked ninth in the nation with 50 doubles thus far.
 
Mason McWhorter paces the Eagles with a .411 batting average to go along with six home runs and 21 RBI. McWhorter also ranks sixth in the nation with 37 hits this season. Noah Ledford leads Georgia Southern and ranks seventh nationally with nine homers. Tuesday starter Jaylen Paden comes into the week with a 1-1 record and a 4.32 ERA in six relief appearances.

Finding Their Form
The Cougars' bats have begun to awaken since the program's return from a COVID-related pause having scored at least seven runs in three of the last four games. Seniors Ari Sechopoulos and Harrison Hawkins have combined for five home runs and 14 RBI in that span while Joseph Mershon is riding a seven-game hitting streak and batting .500 with three doubles over that stretch.

The Cougars' defense has turned 21 double plays this season for an average of 1.17 per game, an average which ranks second in the nation behind Monmouth (1.20). Shortstop Trotter Harlan has been involved in 19 of the Cougars' 21 twin killings this season.
