ANNAPOLIS, Md. --- The College of Charleston sailing team won eight races over the first two rounds and went 2-1 in the final four round-robin to secure a solid third-place finish at the 2021 ICSA LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship on Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars wrapped the regatta with a 13-6 record to finish one win behind second-place Roger Williams. Navy won the Walter Cromwell Wood Bowl with a 17-2 record including a unblemished mark in the gold fleet round.
"I am very proud of the team racing squad," Director of Sailing
Kevin Jewett said. "This was a tight event and the result puts us in a great spot going into the Coed Dinghy Championship with regard to the Fowle Trophy standings."

Paris Henken rotated skipper positions throughout the regatta with
Anna Sherry,
Noelle Owen,
Roxanne Snyder,
Lucy Klempen and
Peter Barron all crewing at various points during the 19-race event. Skinner also crewed for several races in addition to skippering boat two in multiple races.
Racing began on Wednesday morning in light southeast winds which built steadily throughout the day and reached the mid-teens by the day's final race. The 12 teams competing for the national championship enjoyed great team racing conditions on Thursday with a southeasterly breeze measuring 6-10 knots with moderate shifts.
The Cougars will compete for the final national championship of the season on Monday, June 7 when racing gets underway at the 2021 ICSA Gill Coed Championship in Annapolis, Md.
