Cameron Smith Chosen CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, VA. – Two shutouts, including one against South Carolina, have earned College of Charleston senior goalkeeper Cameron Smith the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week award.
Smith, a third team All-CAA selection last spring, picked up the conference weekly honor for the third time in his career. He was chosen twice last year after blanking nationally ranked UNCW and Coastal Carolina.
Smith made five saves in a 1-0 overtime win over the Gamecocks on Thursday and stopped three shots in a 0-0 draw with Stetson in the home opener on Sunday. The two clean sheets extended his streak to 387 consecutive shutout minutes dating back to the final two games of last season.
The Cougars are off until Wednesday, Sept. 8 when they host USC Upstate at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point.
