STORYLINES
  • After a two-game road swing that saw the Cougars lose a pair of tough battles by a combined eight points, Charleston returns home for a 3-game homestand which begins Tuesday vs. William & Mary and runs through Saturday at TD Arena.
  • CofC is 7-9 all-time against the Tribe, winning three of the last five matchups.
  • The Cougars have won four straight meetings against William & Mary at TD Arena, with the last such loss coming on Jan. 14, 2016. The Cougars are 6-1 all-time at home vs. the Tribe.
  • Charleston is 6-3 at TD Arena this season, pouring in 80.2 PPG at its friendly confines and shooting 34.4 percent from 3-point range. The Cougars also averaging two more steals per game at home compared to road matchups.
  • CofC's freshmen five has been stellar of late. The group that includes 5-time CAA Rookie of the Week Reyne Smith, 3-time Rookie of the Week Ben Burnham, Babacar Faye, Nikita Evdokimov and Raekwon Horton combined for a season-high 43 points on Saturday at JMU shooting 44.1 percent. Smith led CofC in scoring with 21 points. One of these five has reached double figures in 14 of Charleston's 17 games.
  • Freshmen are accounting for 36 percent of CofC's scoring overall this season, the highest percentage in the CAA (479 of the Cougars' 1332 points).
  • Smith, a 5-time CAA Rookie of the Week honoree, is leading all CAA freshmen in scoring (12.5), free throw percentage (.932) and 3-pointers made (2.9). He's well on his way to perhaps earning CofC's first CAA Rookie of the Year award since Jarrell Brantley in 2016. Smith is only 10 triples shy of CofC's all-time single-season made 3s list with 50 treys.
