Women's Tennis Competes at ITA Carolina Regionals

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's tennis team competed in the ITA Regionals in Winston-Salem, N.C. this past weekend. The field consisted of some of the best teams and athletes in the country.
The doubles pairing of Slade Coetzee and Halli Trinkle made it to the semifinals round of the consolation flight. Elle Bredemann and Maja Jekauc also paired up to make it to the quarterfinals of the consolation flight.
Coetzee had another impressive performance as she won three rounds in the consolation draw and won the final match on a walkover.. Coetzee was coming off of an undefeated performance at the Charleston Southern Invitational.
Maja Jekauc and Halli Trinkle both won two singles matches to advance to the main draw stage. One of Trinkle's victories came against McKenna Schaefbauer, a highly rated high school recruit now attending the University of South Carolina.
Competing in the qualifying consolation bracket, Bredemann defeated Eeva Ristola from Campbell before dropping three tough sets to Amila Jusufbegovic of Charleston Southern.
"We're very proud of how the team competed this weekend. This is arguably the toughest region in the country and to come out on top of any of the draws like Slade did is a huge accomplishment and a great sign of the direction we are trending," said assistant coach Blake Mosley.
