CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball team will take the sand for the first time in 11 days on Friday at Coastal Carolina's Carolina Challenge in Conway, S.C. Charleston will face UNCW and Mercer on Friday followed by matchups with South Carolina and host Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Charleston enters the weekend with a 16-6 overall record and are riding a seven-match winning streak after going 6-0 at the CofC Beach Blast on March 25-27. The Cougars have five pairs with at least seven wins and have won eight of their last nine.

THE OPPONENTS
  • UNCW carries a 17-7 record on the season and has dropped its last two to No. 19 Stetson and No. 14 South Carolina. The Cougars and Seahawks have split their first two matchups this season in a pair of 3-2 decisions.
  • Mercer comes into the weekend with a 4-17 mark and has lost three of its last five. The Bears picked up back-to-back wins over Carson-Newman and State College of Florida last weekend.
  • South Carolina enters the weekend ranked 18th in the nation with a 13-8 overall record. The Gamecocks have won two in a row and four of their last five.
  • Coastal Carolina is 15-8 on the season but have lost four in a row after falling to Stetson, Florida International, Georgia State and Florida Atlantic – all ranked in the top-20 – last weekend at the Stetson Beach Bash.
QUICK SETS
  • Emma Falk and Maria Zwieg have been nearly perfect for the Cougars this season carrying a 16-1 record into the weekend. The duo has won seven in a row and are 9-1 in their last 10.
  • Gabi Bailey and Kyra Thompson are 16-2 this season – all in the fourth flight – with six straight wins entering the weekend. They have won nine of their last 10 including a gritty three-set win against Florida Gulf Coast on March 13.
  • Amani Dunston and Sofie Vogel have formed a lethal duo in the second set over the last seven matches entering the weekend with an unblemished 7-0 mark. The duo has dropped only three sets in that span.
  • The Cougars have already equaled the second-highest single-season win total in program history (16) and are four victories shy of tying the school record of 20 set in 2019.
