CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer program will honor its five seniors prior to hosting Appalachian State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point.
The pregame ceremonies will recognize Grace Powell, Olivia Freitas, Lauren Sandidge, Natalie Sgro and Jenna Snead. The team will be signing autographs following the match at the picnic area located near the Bud Light Corner Kick Bar.
The Cougars have five wins in seven games with each victory coming by shutout, and Charleston brings a 300:56 scoreless streak into Sunday's contest. Powell and Olivia Freitas scored goals, and Savannah Barron turned in a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Charleston Southern in the last outing on Wednesday.
Powell took over the CAA lead in goals with five and is also tied for first with two game-winning goals and tied for second with 10 points. Bubbles Dever is tied for the top spot in the conference with four assists, and Freitas and Mary Alexander both have three goals.
Barron has an 0.86 GAA and .769 save percentage, and Katie Carrino has 17 saves and a .773 save percentage.
The Mountaineers have one win and three ties in their first six games. Izzi Wood has a team-leading two goals, and Kerry Eagleston has been solid in goal with a 1.17 GAA, three shutouts and 28 saves.
The Cougars hold an 11-4-4 lead in the series, with most of those games coming when the teams were members of the Southern Conference. Charleston won, 2-0, last year in Boone behind goals by Freitas and Powell with Alexander and Delaney Dawes contributing assists.
