CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston track and field team heads to Virginia Beach for the first of two times during the indoor season Saturday when they compete in the Blue Marlin Invitational.
The Virginia Beach Sports Center will also serve as the host venue for the inaugural CAA Championships next month.
The Cougars had a strong start to the season at the Gamecock Opener last weekend.
Kaitlynn Bailey made record book moves in both the 60 (7.94) and 200 (25.96), and
Emily Kreek made her collegiate debut by entering the top 10 in the 60 hurdles (9.44).
Bailey will compete in the 60 and 400 while Kreek is entered in the 60 hurdles, high jump and shot put.
Alicia Wilson matched her PR in the 60 (8.34) and will run that distance as well as the 200. Freshman
Cayden Crismon fell just a half second shy of entering the record book in the 3000 (10:21.43) and will run the 800 and mile this time around.
The jumps will be headlined by freshmen
Abby Fush and
Emma Fortuna. Fush paced the Cougars in the long jump last weekend (17-0 ½), and Fortuna came within .03 meters of the top 10 in Charleston history in the high jump with a mark of 4'11".
