CHARLESTON, S.C. - In their first game as a ranked team since 2002, the College of Charleston men's basketball team will travel to North Carolina A&T on Wednesday, January 4 for their third CAA game of the season. The contest will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network with John Fanta and John Giannini on the call at 5:00 p.m.
STORYLINES
- After a 20-year absence, the College of Charleston men's basketball team is ranked in AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll coming in at No. 23. The Cougars received 116 votes after lurking the receiving votes column for most of the young season.
- Charleston's 14-1 start is the best since the institution joined in the NCAA in 1991. The Cougars have won 13 straight contests, good for the nation's third best winning percentage (93.3).
- Pat Kelsey's program currently sits at 52 in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball NET and 90 in the KenPom rankings. The Cougars lead the CAA in scoring offense (80.47 ppg), offensive rebounds per game (13.40 rpg) and 3-point field goals made (10.13 pg).
- The Cougars and Aggies will meet for the first time in program history during the Aggies first year as members of the CAA.
- Charleston is coming off a 76-74 overtime victory against preseason CAA favorite Towson on New Years Eve. Ante Brzovic had his second double-double of the season with a career-high 22 points and 12 rebounds. Ryan Larson went 4-for-7 from three with five assists while Reyne Smith grabbed a career-high four steals in addition to his clutch three to give the Cougars to lead in the final seconds of regulation to help force overtime.
- Dalton Bolon leads the Cougars ten-man rotation averaging 12.3 ppg followed by Larson and Smith with 11.2. Jaylon Scott and Babacar Faye both average 3.4 rpg to pace Charleston on the boards.
- North Carolina A&T is coming off their first-ever CAA victory with a 81-79 buzzer beater over Hofstra on NYE. Duncan Powell records his first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
- Kam Woods leads the Aggie with 17.4 ppg with Austin Johnson averaging 4.5 rpg.
