Stoutt, Brown, Drees Enter Record Book at NCAA Southeast Regional

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A trio of College of Charleston runners entered the record book Friday at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Spartanburg.
On the women's side, freshman Savannah Stoutt moved into eighth place in the 8k with a time of 21:49.8 while Sophia Brown took over 10th by crossing in 21:53.4. Rhian Purves led the Cougars by finishing in 21:33.1, the second-fastest time in her career and 88th out of 243 athletes in the field.
The Charleston women finished 21st in a field of 34 teams.
Mitchel Drees concluded an outstanding freshman season with a 10k time of 32:22.5 to enter the record book at No. 8 while posting the 10th-fastest overall time in school history at that distance. Jackson Reid added a PR of 32:56.0 to rank 18th among the best times in Cougar annals.
Maeve Gimbert (22:10.4) and Shannon Smith (23:05.2) added PRs for the women as did Tucker Green (34:47.6) for the men.
Hannah Wise followed Purves, Stoutt, Brown and Gimbert as a scorer for the women with a time of 22:40.6. Drees and Reid were followed by Ben Ashmore (34:14.8), Green and Dylan McTigue (35:21.6) as men's scorers.
