NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team bounced back with a 70-60 victory over Charleston Southern on Friday in the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
The Cougars struggled at the post to start, picking up only 16 rebounds in the first half, compared to CSU's 23 rebounds. Charleston was able to overcome an eight-point deficit in the second quarter, cutting the Buccaneer's lead to one with the help of sophomore
Lara Rohkohl.
Rohkohl finished the half leading the Cougars with eight points along with
Jenna Annecchiarico, who returned to the starting lineup after missing the matchup in Las Vegas.
Within the second half, Charleston and the Buccaneers went back and forth with lead changes, staying within single digits of each other the entire duration of the matchup. The Cougars ended the third quarter down one, 50-51.
With a tight fourth quarter, a pair of free throws from Annecchiarico put the Cougars up 55-53, a lead which was kept the remainder of the game.
College of Charleston remained calm from the free throw line, downing eight points from the charity stripe in the final minute to take the win.
