CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston beach volleyball returns home to the Creekside Tennis & Swim Club for the 2023 Charleston Classic as Catawba, Coastal Carolina, Berry and Eastern Kentucky come calling.
 
The Cougars went 3-1 last season in the CofC Classic taking down Jacksonville, Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State while dropping a 3-2 decision to Florida Gulf Coast.
 
Charleston enters the weekend coming off a 5-0 decisive sweep of Sun Belt foe Mercer to close out the Duuuval Duals down in Jacksonville. Coastal Carolina enters the weekend 5-3 and Eastern Kentucky sits at 6-2 overall.
 
Catawba is 5-2 but plays three matches at Erskine Thursday before making their way to Mt. Pleasant for the weekend tournament. Berry is 6-5 and plays in two matches at Erskine Thursday as well.

Ella Reames and Tynley Smeltzer have paced the Cougars through two weekends posting a 6-3 mark highlighted by a three-set victory over their counterpart from No. 8 Georgia State. Reames and Smeltzer have wins over Palm Beach Atlantic, Georgia State, Tampa, Tusculum, Jacksonville and Mercer.
