CHARLESTON, S.C. - The two-time defending CAA champion Charleston women's golf program has announced the upcoming slate of tournaments for the 2023-24 season.
"This is the most ambitious schedule we have ever played. The team is coming off its best year in the history of the program," said head coach
Jamie Futrell. "With almost everyone returning it is time to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the country"
The Cougars will compete in ten tournaments, hosting the annual Cougar Classic, Edisto Island Invitational and Briar's Creek Invitational. Futrell's program will compete in against several Power 5 programs along the way to prepare for the CAA Championship April 12-14 in Southport, N.C.Â
Last season, the Cougars won the CAA title while posting 19
th best stroke average in the NCAA and ranked 47
th in the NCAA power ratings. Futrell was named the CAA Coach of the Year for the fifth time and second consecutive after helping lead Charleston to its fifth title in the last nine tournaments. The Cougars have been consistently ranked in the top 50 in the GolfStat rankings and climbed to as high as No. 15 in the GolfWeek media poll.
