CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston volleyball split their two matches Saturday to close the 2023 CofC Classic sweeping Le Moyne 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-5) and dropping a marathon four-set match to West Virginia by a 3-1 score (30-32, 27-25, 36-34, 25-18).

Charleston used a balanced offense as three attackers finished the day with 10-plus kills –

Sopheea Mink and
Lexi Wierzbicki – with Wierzbicki becoming the 20th Cougar in program history to reach 1,000 career kills in the first set of the finale.

Key Cougars
- Wierzbicki collected her 1,000th career kill in the first set of the nightcap, becoming the 20th Cougar to reach the milestone. She would finish the day with 16 total (3.20/set).
- Anna Smith paced the Cougar attack with 26 kills (3.71/set) and swinging at a .273 clip.
- Sopheea Mink added 14 kills of her own (2.80/set) putting 12 down against the Mountaineers for her first double-digit performance as a Cougar.
- Sofie Vogel had a career-best six blocks in the Cougars' sweep of Le Moyne and finished with 10 total (1.67/set).
- Hannah Scott made her collegiate debut with a team-high 28 assists (7.00/set) to go along with six kills, a block and five digs.
- Chandler Manusky led the Cougar backline with 26 digs (3.71/set) while collecting four service aces – part of a Cougar serve that landed 16 on the day.

- The Cougars' 13 service aces tied the second-best mark in a three-set match in program history while their .398 attack percentage in the opener was good for ninth-best in a single match.
- Hannah Scott made her collegiate debut with a start Saturday morning tallying 24 assists, five kills and a block.
- Kaylin Collins made her first appearance since 2021 after missing last season adding a trio of kills to the balanced Cougar attack Saturday morning. Collins would finish the day with seven kills across the two matches.
- Brynn Whitehair had a career-best four kills, two aces and five digs in the sweep of Le Moyne.
- Seven different Cougars put down seven-or-more kills across the two matches.
- Charleston averaged 13.29 kills per set and hit .235 while holding the opposition to just .125 and forcing 58 attacking errors in just seven sets played.
- Wierzbicki's 19-kill effort Friday night and milestone kill Saturday night earned her a spot on the 2023 CofC Classic All-Tournament Team.
- In the nightcap, only one set of the four played was decided in regulation with the first and third reaching 30-plus points for both sides. The Cougars and Mountaineers split those two sets.
- Tynley Smeltzer ended the night with five aces giving the Junior 50 in her career.
