MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston turned in a dominating outing on both sides of the pitch to get back in the win column with a 1-0 victory over Campbell at Ralph Lundy Field.
The Cougars won their second CAA game of the season to move into a tie for sixth place with seven points. The Charleston attack produced 18 shots and the pressure paid off in the 34th minute when
Bella Antonio and
Bubbles Dever combined to assist on
Abby Fisher's second goal of the year.
Meanwhile the defense recorded its second straight shutout by limiting the Camels to five shots and only two on target. Dating back to a win over Hampton on September 7, the Cougars have conceded only four goals in their past five matches.Â
"It was just another fantastic 90-minute performance from the Cougs today," said head coach
Christian Michner. "We created a lot of scoring opportunities and limited the opposition to just a few. We have to convert on more of those chances, but it's a great sign that we're knocking on the door as much as we are.
"It was another shutout, and defensively we were connected and tough to beat. A great day for the Cougs!"
After going 1-0-1 on its two-game homestand, Charleston embarks on three in a row away from the Lowcountry beginning with a Thursday contest at Drexel. The Cougars are next at home on October 8 when they host Stony Brook for Senior Day.
