CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team tied Northeastern on Saturday afternoon 1-1.
The Cougars were the first to strike, when a shot from Chris Elliott to the bottom left corner found the back of the net in the 11th minute. The Huskies answered in the 37th minute to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the break.
Despite 17 shots in goal between the two teams after the break, the second half remained scoreless, giving the Cougars their second draw in conference play.
Leonardo D'Ambrosio led the offensive effort with four shots on goal, attempting to push Charleston into the win column. The Cougars tallied seven shots on goal in the matchup but were unable to breakthrough.
In the 67th minute, a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick for the Huskies, with a chance to take the lead. In a game-deciding moment, Olly Marshall saved the penalty shot to keep the score even.
The Cougars move to 2-1-2 in CAA play with three conference matchups remaining, looking to take a spot in the CAA tournament in November.
Charleston will return to action at Patriots Point on Wednesday, October 16 to host North Florida for their last nonconference game of the season. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC with live stats available at CofCStats.com.
