CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston won the final two sets of the match as the Cougars earned the weekend sweep of Towson in five frames (25-22, 16-25, 20-25, 25-23 and 15-11) Saturday afternoon in TD Arena.

Tynley Smeltzer recorded 30 digs in the winning efforts while
Emily Banitt and
Hannah Scott both posted double-doubles.

CofC becomes the first team in the Coastal Athletic Association to 15 wins, improving to 15-5 and a league-best 7-1 in conference play. The Tigers slip to 14-4 overall and 5-3 in league action. Charleston handed Towson consecutive losses in conference play for the first time since 2018.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- Allie Holland leveled the fifth set at nine with a kill, starting a 7-2 run for the Cougars to close out the deciding frame.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST TOWSON:
- Smeltzer led the defensive efforts, picking up 30 of the team's 88 digs.
- Four Cougars had double-digit kills, led by Banitt's 15.
- Banitt's 69 total attacks are the fourth-most in a five-set match in program history.
- Scott's 45 assists give her at least 45 in four of the last five matches.
- The Cougars had their seventh block party at home this season, tallying 10.5 blocks.
- Banitt (15 kills, 16 digs) and Scott (45 assists, 13 digs) both recorded their eighth double-doubles of the season.Â

- Charleston improves to 14-8 all-time against Towson and beat the Tigers in consecutive games for the first time since 2018.
- CofC also improves to 4-1 in five set matches this season.
- The Cougars are 11-1 when winning the first set.
- Charleston's 11 wins at home are the most since 2021.
- Holland tallied her 800th career kill while Banitt recorded her 1,300th career kill on Saturday.
- The Cougars has 10-plus kills in 11 of its 20 matches this season and are two blocks away from tying 2023's season total.
