EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. - College of Charleston women's golf head coach Jamie Futrell earned his 40th career head coaching victory on Tuesday as the Cougars won the Edisto Island Invitational for their third straight team win. The win puts Futrell at seventh in most wins among active NCAA Division I women's golf coaches and 21st all-time.

The Cougars won the tournament by four strokes (+11) over second place Northern Arizona.

"I am really happy with the win. This one was tough," said Futrell. "The team really stepped up this week without Emilie [von Finckenstein] in the lineup."

After battling winds during the open two rounds, the Cougars led the field in par 4 scoring (4.12), par 5 scoring (4.93), and total birdies (42). Charleston also finished with three athletes in the top ten with Emma Schimpf at T2 (-2), Molly Hardwick in fourth (+1), and Adrian Anderson in eighth (+6). Anderson posted the top score for Charleston in the second round with a 65.

"Congrats again to Emma and Molly. It seems like they are at or near the top every week," said Futrell. This marks Schimpf's third straight tournament in the top two, and Hardwick's third straight in the top four. Anderson ranked second in the field with 11 total birdies while also sinking an eagle.

The Cougars have a quick turnaround and will travel to the Bahamas for the White Sands Bahamas Invitational hosted by Texas A&M beginning on Friday, October 18.
