CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team defeated North Florida 2-1 on Wednesday night to wrap up nonconference play.
The Cougars got on the board early, when a steal in the final third from
Ryan Watson in the fifth minute gave him a shot, which he planted into the far-left corner of the net. With the finish, Watson tallied his first career goal.
Adil Iggoute doubled the lead for Charleston in the 14
th minute, when a span of passes from the Cougar offense found the Iggoute in the middle, who buried the ball into the bottom right corner.
The Ospreys responded in the 18
th minute, getting on the board to enter the break with a 2-1 score.
After a scoreless second half, the Cougars grabbed the win to finish nonconference play. The Cougars only tallied three shots in the first half, with two of them resulting in goals. North Florida outshot Charleston 7-2 in the second half, but all efforts were rejected by
Olly Marshall, who tallied four saves on the day.
Charleston will return to action on Saturday, October 19 to face Campbell on the road. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC with live stats available at CofCStats.com.
