RICHMOND, Va.– College of Charleston senior
Ante Brzovic has been named the 2024-25 CAA Preseason Player of the Year announced by the league on Friday.
Brzovic earned a spot on the 2023-24 All-CAA First Team and NABC All-District 10 First Team. Already named the 2024-25 Blue Ribbon CAA Preseason Player of the Year, the Croatian big man scored 20-plus points on three occasions last year including a career-high 31 at Hampton. Averaging 12.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game last season, he scored double figures in 22 contests including five double-doubles. He was a unanimous All-CAA Preseason First Team selection.
The defending CAA Champion Cougars were picked to finish second in the league behind Towson. Charleston received 157 points with three first-place votes from the league's head coaches ahead of Chris Mack's first season at the helm of the program.
The 2x NCAA Assist-Turnover Ratio statistical champion,
CJ Fulton earned a spot on the All-CAA Preseason Second Team. Fulton, a senior from Northern Ireland, recorded 145 assists and just 35 turnovers in 2023-24 while averaging 4.1 points per game and 4.1 assists per game. Fulton posted 14 games with 5+ assists and notched a career-high six steals vs. Rhode Island.
Graduate student
Derrin Boyd earned Honorable Mention honors. Boyd spent the last two seasons at Lipscomb earning All-ASUN second team honors last season. The Kentucky native was Lipscomb's leading scorer at 17.6 points per game, ranking 4th in the ASUN in the category, playing in 22 games and starting in 20 games before a season-ending injury. Prior to suiting up for the Bisons, Boyd played two seasons at NAIA Georgetown College where he was an Honorable Mention All-American and two-time Mid-South Conference first team selection.
For the second consecutive season, College of Charleston men's basketball has sold out season tickets in TD Arena for 2024-25 season.
There will be no single-game tickets for sale through the College of Charleston Ticket Office.
