CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston became the eighth team in the country to reach 17 victories, defeating William & Mary in three sets (25-18, 25-22 and 25-21) Saturday afternoon in TD Arena.

The Cougars improve to 17-5 overall and winners in 14 of the last 15 contests while holding a 9-1 record in the CAA. The Tribe slip to 7-12 and 3-7 in conference play.

Charleston had its 12th block party of the season, recording 16 blocks in the win, paced by
Caitlyn Callahan's nine.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- Charleston dominated defensively throughout the match, recording seven blocks in the first set, the second-most in a frame this season.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY:
- Emily Banitt recorded her team-best 11th double-double of the season, tallying 14 kills and 10 digs.
- Banitt also had three service aces, giving her seven for the weekend against the Tribe.
- Tynley Smeltzer was one-of-three Cougars with 10-plus digs, leading the way with a game-best 20. Avery Alexander had 13 digs, one shy of her career high.
- Callahan had four of the team's five solo blocks.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 18-5 overall against William & Mary and a perfect 11-0 in three-set matches.
- Charleston became the eighth team in the country to reach 17 wins in 2024.
- The Cougars have swept four of the five series in conference play.
- The team's 16 blocks are tied for the second-most in a three-set match in program history and third time this season the Cougars have had 15-plus blocks in a contest.
- Callahan has had six-plus blocks in eight matches this season and tied her career-high of nine, which she set Sept. 14 against Middle Tennessee.
- Callahan also recorded her 100th block of the season Saturday, the first player in the CAA to reach the century mark.
- Charleston has five-or-more service aces in 11 of its matches this season.
- CofC has held opponents to a .130 attacking percentage or worse in 13 of the 22 matches, keeping the Tribe to .123 on Friday and .037 Saturday.
- Smeltzer entered the top 10 all-time in career digs, sitting 10th with 1,366.
