Women's Golf Concludes Fall Campaign in The Bahamas

10/20/2024 3:22:00 PM

PARADISE ISLAND - The College of Charleston women's golf team concluded the fall portion of their 2024-25 season at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars finished in eighth place, recording the fourth lowest team round during Sunday's play.

"We came back well after a really tough day yesterday.  In a field like this there was no way to make up the ground we lost in one round," said head coach Jamie Futrell. "I'm proud of the comeback. Overall, it was a great fall and I look forward to seeing how we fare next spring."

Charleston won three tournaments this fall, a first in program history.

Emma Schimpf led the Cougars in The Bahamas with a T17 finish. She sank three birdies during the final round, including back-to-back on holes six and seven.  Emilia von Glahn followed Schimpf at T27, recording two birdies, with Molly Hardwick at T33 with three birdies. Four of the five Cougars in the lineup moved up in the standings from the opening round in the final round.

The Cougars return to action on February 2 at the UCF Challenge.
