CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team took down No.18 Hofstra 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to clinch their first CAA tournament berth since 2017.
The Cougars got on the board early, when a shot from
Leonardo D'Ambrosio on the right side slipped past the Hofstra defense and found the back of the net.
Charleston doubled the lead in the 21
st minute when a cross from D'Ambrosio on the right side found
Ryan Watson in the box, who headed the ball for their second. The Cougars entered the break with a 2-0 lead over the Pride.
Hofstra found their first goal in the 55
th minute to bring the game back within one, but Charleston sealed the game in the 74

Tom Wilson found
Adil Iggoute in the box, who found the bottom left corner of the net for their third and final goal.
A strong defense performance and five saves from
Olly Marshall limited Hofstra to just one goal, as the Cougars defeat Hofstra for the first time since 2015.
"Unreal performance by the group, a lot of grit," says head coach
Keith Wiggans. "I couldn't be happier for the seniors and the way they played their last regular season game at home. Our focus is now on Drexel, fighting to host in the conference tournament. The crowd was unreal. Great support from the stands, it propelled us to the win."
Charleston will return to action on Saturday, November 2 to face Drexel on the road for their regular season finale. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC with live stats available at CofCStats.com.
