CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team swept North Carolina A&T in a thrilling matchup inside TD Arena.
The game started slowly for both squads, exchanging points within the paint as the Cougars entered the second quarter down by two.
Jenna Annecchiarico provided the spark needed to keep the Cougars within single digits of the Aggies, nailing a set of threes. The Cougars entered halftime down six points.
A run by the Aggies handed Charleston a 14-point deficit, which was slowly chipped away by shots beyond the arc from Annecchiarico and
Taryn Barbot. A steady hand from
Jada Logan also aided the Cougars as they entered the final 10 minutes down by one basket.
For the last quarter of the contest there were four lead changes, until a three-point basket from
Anika McGarity with two minutes remaining in the game shifted the momentum to the Cougars. With the bench erupting, Charleston forced a turnover with one minute remaining to seal the win.
The Cougars were led by Annecchiarico who totaled 20 points on the night along with seven assists. Her four baskets beyond the arc tallied the most of any Cougar for the night.
Taryn Barbot reached a double-double as she scored 15 points with 11 rebounds.
Logan also landed double digit scoring with 12 points. She gathered six rebounds, two of them which came from missed free throws to give the Cougars a second chance score.
