CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team hosts the Briar's Creek Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
This year marks the 11th annual tournament. SMU won last year's event, finishing 13 under par to outlast the UCF Knights who finished three shots behind the Mustangs.
The field vying for the 2024 title includes 10 teams who competed in the NCAA post season last year. Thirteen of the 17 teams reside in Power 5 conferences. The field is also headlined by three teams that have been ranked inside the top 25 this year - Florida, UCF, and Purdue.
Adrian Anderson is the current CAA Golfer of the Week after her performance at the Gators Invitational. Anderson battled five of the nation's top 25 teams along with rain and lightning to finish in the top 15 at the Gators Invitational. The sophomore from South Carolina was 2-over (72-72-68) on the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course against competition that included No. 10 Florida, No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 15 Clemson, No. 16 UCF, No. 17 Arizona. The honor is the second this season for Anderson and the league-leading sixth for Charleston. The Cougars finished eighth overall in Gainesville.
